Just listened and had to chime in on that last Q about the MIL and weight... as someone who has gained and lost the same 25 pounds over and over again, my favorite response to barbs like this is “oh man, I’m sorry to hear you ever felt the need to calorie count and restrict yourself. That sounds really tough”.
Caissie, you are so right that it’s a power move to admit when you don’t know something or you need help. I had a new supervisor who was basically unqualified for the job and instead of asking us for help, she just did whatever she thought was correct and ignored problems and ignored anyone who knew more than her. It was so childish. I would have respected her much more if she had come in with an openness and just admitted that she needed help. I quit shortly after she took over because my life had become miserable there.
