A while back on the podcast, Biz and I talked about how on the set of “Girls5Eva” she spearheaded “Free Stuff Fridays” which was, basically, gathering the swag and products that were sent her way, and having a little drawing with the staff and crew of the show every Friday to give away fun, free stuff to friends who don’t always get free fun stuff! We did the same thing at “Watch What Happens Live!” when I worked there, and I think some form of this tradition has existed on every TV show I’ve ever worked on and probably many others on which I have not. Many beloved things I still own, use and currently wear were obtained through this little practice. It would be hard to pick a favorite, but there is an A&W root beer mug I obtained this way sometime in the 1990s that has been so beloved by my family over the years that the logo has completely washed away. Damn good mug. Still in our cabinet, still in heavy rotation. DAMN GOOD MUG!
Anyhoozle, since neither of us are working with a staff or crew at this very moment, we talked about trying to do some iteration of “Free Stuff Fridays” here on our Substack.
