Wednesday is Busy Philipps is Doing Her Best Day!

This post is gonna be thicc
11

Hey, hey! We’re still on a bit of a summer hiatus and spending time with our families but that doesn’t mean that we don’t have puh-lenty of things for you to watch or listen to, okay? Plus, future news for future things and updates on past things. This post, as SNL’s Stefon would say, has everything!

First, please enjoy the above little blast from the past ep of BT with the hilarious and kind Adam DeVine. We adored everything about him, but specifically the dating aid products he demonstrated at the end. You can see we were always trying to make our way to QVC, even back then, LOL!

Speaking of, have you watched all ten episodes of Busy This Week on plus.qvc.com? We’re gearing up to go do more soon, but how many more probably depends a lot on how often the ones we already made are watched. No pressure! But if you want to put it on for your cats while you go to work, it couldn’t hurt?

Speaking of cats…why are Republicans so weird? We’d have thought JD Vance’s “childless cat ladies” dig was just a bad joke because conservatives are notoriously terrible at humor, but he’s doubled down on it multiple times since, and worse. It’s really strange, but what do you expect from a guy who doesn’t want women to control their own bodies and talks about his own wife like he does. In any case, thanks to everyone who listened to last week’s emergency pod with Caissie and Dr. Annie Andrews in preparation for #AnswerTheCall (AKA, White Women for Harris) which wound up being the biggest Zoom webinar in Zoom history and absolutely overwhelmed the donation links, but wound up raising $11 million for Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign. Not too shabby! Of course, we all owe a huge thanks to Jotaka Eaddy and #WinWithBlackWomen, who got this whole thing started. What an incredible week! (If you missed the emergency pod, and the Zoom webinar, that’s okay! You can go back and check them out now, there’s still plenty of good stuff to hear there. The emergency pod is the Substack post on this page before this one and it has all the info you’ll need.)

If you haven’t listened to the last couple episodes of the pod #BPIDHB, we did an advice show format that many of you seem to love! Thank you for all of the amazing requests for advice, feedback and advice you have shared yourselves over in our Facebook group! If you need to catch up, you can listen to both parts here and here. (If you are wanting to support our sponsors for those episodes, THANK YOU SO MUCH for that, and we’ll share the links and discount codes at the bottom of this post.)

Speaking of podcast eps, when our friend Chelsea Devantez came on the pod to talk about her amazing memoir, I Shouldn’t Be Telling You This (But I’m Going To Anyway), Chels and Cais said they should do a live Zoom book club meeting where Besties and Cookies who’ve read the book can get a chance to ask Chelsea their questions. Well, the time has nearly arrived. Please tentatively save the date of August 25 to join Caissie and Chelsea for an in-depth discussion. More specific details (exact time and links to join) to come, but if you haven’t read the book yet, this should give you plenty of time to pick it up and devour it. You won’t be able to help yourself from reading the whole thing in one sitting. And, speaking of Besties and Cookies, look for Caissie and Busy on an upcoming episode of Chelsea’s podcast Glamorous Trash where they’ll be discussing Busy’s memoir, This Will Only Hurt a Little.

What else is going on with us? Did you see Busy go live on Instagram with Caissie joining her so Busy could tell Caissie she’d arranged for her to stay at The Purple Rain House (the one The Kid lived in in the movie) in Minnesota? Not sure when that trip is happening just yet, but Caissie is already packing her bag and she’s just gonna sit by the door waiting.

In other news you can see on Instagram, Busy grossed her kid out by being too sweaty after riding her bike and she’s on a quest to make her toothbrush flash a smiley face emoji instead of a frowny face. Caissie had to get a new refrigerator because the old one was busted and her family made the best of it by choosing a new refrigerator that is very colorful and can definitely pull its weight across the kitchen from Samantha Stovens, her amazing vintage oven. The dishwasher, though? She needs a glowup.

That’s about all from us for now. There will be podcast episodes coming soon, so look out for them. We hope you’re having a great summer. We hope you are feeling hopeful. We would love to hear what you’ve been doing your best at in the comments so we can cheer you on in whatever it is you’re trying to accomplish. Even if it’s just making your electric toothbrush smile. We love you so much and we’ll talk to you soon.
