So, as an annual colonoscopy victim (hooray Crohn's!), i have to say a few things. First, i deeply understand Busy's pain/annoyance. It's not fun. And Caissie, there already are pill-cams, but no amount of tech like that will eliminate the need for the prep, which is the aggravating part! If your insides are literally full of shit, no camera is going to get usable images. So while i do like the idea of a smoothie and some gut-glamour shots at the mall, i feel like your prediction may be off here. 🤣
I’m a soaker too, but I’m also disgusted by cold food water... I don’t always put my dishes in the dishwasher right away, but I’ll do it later. My boyfriend has the habit of putting almost every plate in the sink, even if not necessary, which collect every drop of water and become cold, greasy, food water... 🤢 And I’ll finish by saying that he also leaves the wet dish rag (I don’t know the correct word..) in the sink, and that might be the worst.
There are soakers and there are people who put dishes away. I'm a soaker and I know it. A total monster and I don't know why my husband tolerates me. I need a good shaming every once in awhile.
Caissie! I feel your dishes pain. Get this, we don't have a dishwasher (I know 😫) and so the dishes all get done by (mostly my) hand. One of my main pet peeves is when I go to do the dishes and my husband has dumped dirty dishes in the sink, filled them and the sink with water and created manky food juice and then I have to clean the sink before I can even start cleaning the dishes 😣😠😫 cos then the job I planned to do becomes a much bigger job and then I end up rage cleaning noisily which makes me the grumpy one who ends up in the wrong.
Anyway, it felt good to find some kindred dishes spirits here - thanks as ever lovely ladies ❤️
I have so many strong opinions about dishes, too. And I’ve never had a roommate who met even the basic understanding of how dishes should be managed (it’s consistently the main source of roommate tension for me). I hand wash or put them in the dishwasher right away. I do sometimes soak when absolutely necessary, but I always come back. I put clean dishes away as soon as they’re dry. Even if I’m going to use the dish/utensil later in the day. My current roommates will leave a spoon in the sink for days before finally putting it in the dishwasher...when there are no more clean spoons and the dishwasher isn’t ready to be run. We somehow have 20 plates and only 8 bowls. They put the bowls in the dishwasher, but hand wash the plates. Which means we run out of bowls quickly and don’t have enough dishes to warrant running the dishwasher because the whole bottom rack is empty because there are no plates in the dishwasher. I don’t understand the logic. Probably because there is none. They’re running on vibes when it comes to dishes and it’s chaos.
In my house, ADHD rules mean that even if someone leaves a dish for a well-intended & possibly even necessary soak, they are never coming back for it. Even if they use the sink they're not gonna see it. And even if they somehow see it, they're not gonna have the executive function to rally to wash it. So, my point is, let's keep the dishwasher empty as possible so that when it's in your hand, you can just set it down in the dishwasher which is basically the same as setting it down in the sink. Then, we can have a shot at getting that dish clean LOL!
Pretty much died when Caissie was explaining napping in her robe...and my husband happened to be listening to the pod at that moment, "Oh God!" he gasped 😱🙈😂🤣
Favorite quote of today’s episode: “I’m always trying to get a fucking clean slate going with the dishes.” It’s the story of my life with dishes and laundry. I also like the new definition of BDE!

I cannot stand when someone doesn't wring out a cloth or sponge. Like, why? It's so mean!
