Thank you Caissie for organising this Shantira treat for us all! And Shantira for making the time. It was a great episode with some beautiful take aways x
Hooray! It was so good to hear Shantira's voice. And I wholly agree, two years is too long to wait and so I hope that some way to make the time between visits shorter can be found. Also, I'm glad that since the podcast, Busy's instagram stories indicate that she is feeling better and that the bout with Covid appears to have been at least manageable. I continue to listen with interest as Caissie navigates the bathroom remodel. I've gone through a lot of remodels. It rarely goes like you expect. There's always something. When I had my bathrooms done, we got to the tile laying when we noticed that the contractor had forgotten to order the tile for the shower floor. Since he needed to do the floor before he could to the walls and since this bathroom had to be effectively done before they could start tearing the other one apart, this brought things to a dead stop. But probably the most disappointing part was the morning that the workers showed up and then left because the tile had arrived the afternoon before and instead of someone at the office picking it up and delivering it so that work could proceed, they waited until the next day when the workers were at the job site and then called and told them to leave and pick up the tile, a trip that took most of the day. It's always something. When I did the kitchen, work stopped for a week for a needed inspection of the new drain for the sink that took less than a half hour to do and no one could explain why work to install the cabinets on the other side of the kitchen that would be unaffected or why work on the backsplash could proceed while we waited. So far, the only upgrade I've had that went well was the window replacement this year. While it took a long while for the windows to show up, once the installation started, the crew worked hard and fast and 8 windows including a bay window were installed in just a couple of days. Thank goodness.
Busy, listen to your friends. While living off the grid in the big woods is a wonderful idea, practically, it can be a pain in the ass. My dad, had set a bit of property apart for me up in the mountains of northern New Mexico where I could build a house and live when I retired. But as the time approached, he pulled me aside one day and told me to go ahead and sell it when the time came because he knew that bottom line, it would not be the best plan. I like my comforts. I like my fast internet. I like being able to order food and have it appear quickly and he knew that living in the woods, just partly off the grid would not be for me when the time came. Visiting the woods is great and there are lots of times that I visit places to decompress. But in reality, I know where I'm meant to live.
As to doing my best, I continue to work real hard at being patient and keeping my frustration levels down. I'm almost 65, and in America, that means it's time to sign up for medicare, something that should be easy but is needlessly complex. You have to know the parts. Do you want to buy them separately which might be cheaper, or buy them as a package, which is certainly easier and provides more flexibility? Making this more difficult is somehow, when you get close to 65, your contact information is given to countless brokers who are willing to work with you to help you through the process for a low, low, fee. Think biblical plagues of locusts numbers. Anyway, when you read the letters they send, they read amazingly like the letters I used to get to try and get me to buy timeshares in vacation properties, so I guess when that business dried up, I know where those people went for work. But I finally called my current insurance company who provide a class that does not try and sell you anything, just give you information on how things work and what the timing is. But I am proud that I've managed to maintain my patience with navigating this process. I think that one of the smartest things I ever did was set up a garbage bin out in the garage so that when the junk mail comes in, I can just toss it without having to bring it in house. And yes, there's a shredder set up next to it so that it all gets disposed of appropriately.
Take care. Try and do your best. Be kind to others. And I know I say this every year and it's cheesy, but as fall approaches always remember, One good turn will get most of the blanket.😊
This episode was awesome! I only started listening right before Shantira went on a new journey! I thought, “lol I’m not gonna make it through 3 hours!” But then I did & haven’t stopped listening! Love you all!
In the convo portion on this convo, this strike is only going to end up costing the consumers more money & the effing millionaires & billionaires will still be richer than most other humans & it’s just stupid.
Omg I’m with Caissie!! I love those YouTube channels with the music playing from another room vibe. They’re so comforting to me. Like when you’re taking a nap and someone is down the hall doing something. Just cozy feeling.
LOVING THIS EPISODE!!!! Welcome back Shantira, we missed you dearly, this was the reunion we all needed. New segment "If Caissie was the show runner" is brilliant.
What a gift to have Busy, Caissie, and Shantira back together! I really needed to hear that sometimes your cucumbers just grow a few flowers and then die so I stop taking the underperforming parts of my life, including my garden, so personally. I also talked about Drew Barrymore in my newsletter this week and came up with the solution of having someone get down on the floor with Drew in their best outfit, align hearts, clasp hands, maintain intense eye contact and tell her that she's working against the cause and that's just disappointing. It's how she gives attention and focus, maybe that's how she needs to receive information-- meet people where they are!
It was so great to hear the gang back together!! I’m glad y’all never got another permanent person after Shantira left, because she slid right back in! I hope she’ll be able to come back even when the strike is over, because I think the three of you create such fantastic energy for yourselves and the listeners! 😍 After listening I went into an obsessive dive about color noise and Hz. Turns out deep red is my noise color, and because I initially misheard Shantira and thought she said 117 Hz, that’s the one I like. 417 and 432 made me feel really anxious, which I’m going to have to ponder about.
loved this episode SOOO much!!
This episode brought me such joy! Shantira is the best!!

To clarify, the strike is not stupid, the billionaires & millionaires that will willingly pass the buck onto the consumers is the stupid part.

I don’t know why I laughed so much at Caissie’s angry Yankee Candle review:
“This candle doesn’t smell like anything!!!
You have Covid you dumb bitch!”

Best best best! So happy to have Shantira back for the ep ❤️❤️
Such a treat to hear Shantira again!
I haven't listened yet, but I'm worried about the glass door.
