Caissie, if you don't like portals don't visit any Meow Wolf installations - https://meowwolf.com/ - they are full of portals and you don't know where you are going!
I was surprised to hear you both agree that beyond listening to people and making donations and phone calls, there was nothing you could do about the worsening situation in Israel/Gaza. You could interview someone from a campaigning organisation like If Not Now or Dissenters or a non-profit like IMEU. You could remind others that it isn’t antisemitic and doesn’t mean you support Hamas’ violence if you criticise the right-wing genocidal government of Israel. You could post a template and contact details for elected representatives so people can call or email and demand a ceasefire. You could use social media to link to journalists and citizens documenting conditions in Palestine. If you’re worried about the (sadly very real) threat of losing job opportunities or sponsors, you could put on a mask and protest, take part in BDS efforts and follow writer and anti-racist campaigner Ijeoma Oluo, who is curating trusted sources of information and providing important historical context on Instagram. None of it is enough and it’s no wonder many of us feel helpless, but it’s something.
I’m just now getting caught up on the pod but yes to all of this!!!!! Also a reminder to all of us that our voices are a powerful tool, especially amidst so much propaganda. Denouncing genocide is straightforward and not complex. We can’t let the people in power gaslight us into thinking this is too complicated to speak on.
Thank you so much for saying this, I’ve been feeling like I’m losing my mind with not only the terrible news out of Gaza, the West Bank and Israel but this pervasive “we can’t possibly say anything” attitude 💕
Um .. Prince spiraled up, did I catch that right? After discussing the downward spiral and wondering if anyone upward spirals, Cassie, was it intentional?? I'm listening over different points in time so maybe I'm missing a connecting point, but three cheers for all the upward spirals and to new beginnings for all of us who need it!!!!
I love that portal art work! Happy Anniversary Caissie! And what a trip to the other side of the portal that must have been for Busy! Glad all is well! Xo
Hahaha. This picture is giving me life. Loved this episode. I have always liked Aparna’s comedy and I forgot she had a book coming out. Also, Caissie, I don’t trust automatic doors either. I’m a person they sometimes don’t open for! Sometimes touchless faucets don’t work for me either. Am I a ghost? 🤣
It's shocking that that was 1 year ago...I feel like it was just a few months ago listening to Busy tell that story on the pod...and I listen to the episodes religiously on their Wednesdays! 😱🎃🤸♀️🤣
I just saw this on Instagram and I am DYING of laughter. Caissie, your face... I was already chuckling but when I suddenly saw your face it took. me. out.
