Possibly my fav podcast episode. There was something magical about him being in person.

Hi. I apologize. I have been listening to podcasts, and have really enjoyed them, but at the same time, I’m building a Lego Titanic which takes just about every brain cell my brain can muster so I might have to go back and listen to some. But I have a non-podcast related question. The Grammys were last Sunday. Monday, the internet had all these pictures from stars at the after parties all wearing different outfits. So how does this happen? Truly, I’m not trying to be a wiseass but the picture I have in my mind is all these famous people scurrying around with lots of bags of clothes and that makes little sense. Is the break between the show and the party long enough for everyone to go home or back to their hotel to change? Do the venues have space set aside that are big enough for everyone to change in? While the stars are on the red carpet are their minions scurrying about lugging clothes here and there for people to change someplace? I’m someone who rarely goes to things and dressing up for the event only to have to change again for the after party or reception is just foreign to me. But everyone looked great in the pictures and the party clothes do look more comfortable.

Also it was such a treat to see Tracy Chapman, whose voice I’ve always loved. When she sings “Fast Car” her voice is like listening to silk. And what a treat to see Joni Mitchell whose voice now has the experience of the years and who was there when I was young and just starting to listen to music. Anyway that’s all. With all the weather we’re having everyone please be safe. Don’t ever try to drive in deep water and yes a foot is really deep in some cases. Be kind when you can and take a minute and talk to the person behind the register at the grocery store, who are some of the unsung essential employees we meet every day.

And once again any insight on award show/after party logistics will be appreciated.

So, I watched Self Reliance. I thought it would be a fun Saturday confection. But I was so moved by it. So emotional….

As I was listening to the Prince story, I was thinking “I must know what Caissie knows about Prince sitting out We Are the World” which was the most intriguing part of the Netflix doc 😎

Well, this episode was an absolute fucking delight!! (Excuse my language)

Jake was brilliant, I'm so glad he was in person and we got all 3 hours of all three of you.

Did anyone else have a weird deja vu feeling for the first like 2 minutes of this episode, thinking it was a replay of another episode? I seriously scrolled through all the episode titles looking for Jake’s name, and was very confused. 😂

Reading the description of the episode above I am realizing my entire life I thought it was “brass tax” not brass tacks... I don’t think I’ve seen it written out before! 🤦‍♀️

Really kind Jake Johnson story that some of you may share...

It was April 2020 and I had a colicky newborn and a 4yr old and a husband that had to leave the house for work. Just like everyone else we were stressed and worried. The Spiderverse movie had recently come to streaming and my son was obsessed. He didn’t just watch that movie, he acted out the moves and said all of the lines. At the time I was still on Instagram and I followed Jake on there and one day he posted that to cheer people up during those crazy times, if you commented your child’s name and age and a little something about them he would try and email you a voice recording of himself as Peter B. Parker with an encouraging message to each kid. Well I did it and honestly thought there would be too many people to actually get an email from him. Thankfully I was wrong and a week or so later I got an email from Peter B. Parker.

It brought so much light and joy to my son’s eyes and honestly it made me and my husband both get emotional. I have that email forever saved and I will never forget how a stranger with his own life and children took time out of his day to send out a bunch of really funny and sweet messages that were truly a ray of sunshine in a really dark storm.

This episode was so good and so is his podcast and Self Reliance! I have heard him on a few other podcasts and y’all’s was the best by far. So relaxed and fun!

Loved this ep. Of course I'm only 1:10 in. 😂🤣🤦🏼‍♀️ but i do have a question: is there something wrong with me that never once while watching Self Reliance did i question that everything was really happening to him? It did not even occur to me that viewers would think it was all in his head! Also, i 💯💯 loved it.

The episode was great and Jake was a phenomenal cohost. Caissie, your boiler suit is amazing!! Who is it made by? Looks like Nooworks or Lucy & Yak. I have a bit of a jumpsuit addiction myself.
