It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these posts, but I think some of you enjoyed them? So rather than stare out the window at the Southern California freezing rain that is honestly not bringing me any joy, here are three little things that ARE bringing me joy!
At Christmas, my husband proved that he just might know me as well as some of you! Because he thought about how I love colors and anything that glows and he replaced every bulb in our house with these app-controlled LEDs that can be pretty much any color! Philips (different spelling, no relation) makes a fancy version of this with their “Hue” line, but these are by a company called Wiz on Amazon. And, not gonna lie, they don’t work perfectly! Sometimes you have to turn them on and off a few times until they all turn on or turn the color/s you want them to be, but for us it has kind of become a game like on “The Office” where they sit around waiting for the roaming DVD screensaver to perfectly hit the corner of the TV screen. Also, if a family member refuses to download the app (Lincoln) and continually turns the lights off using the switches (Lincoln) you will have to physically turn them on again before the app will work for you. Small problems for the amount of zing they are putting in my heart!
Speaking of color, I am really loving these little mismatched heart emoji face earrings Busy got me in San Francisco because I forgot to pack earrings for our show there. Even though she treated me to them, I walked a kind of far way to the store with her to shop for them, so I feel like I earned it? (When Busy is visiting a city, she seriously walks around whatever place it is all day before doing, say, an entire high energy show that night. It’s impressive!) Anyway, the earrings are by Kurt Geiger, one of my fave colorful brands. I also have a rainbow metallic handbag I adore. I know this feature is usually about cheap thrills, and even though KG’s stuff isn’t exactly what I would consider cheap, it also isn’t THE MOST expensive either. Furthermore, I’ve noticed that lots of gently used or even NWT Kurt Geiger ends up on Poshmark, Mercari or other resale sites at very budget friendly prices!
Ok, I stole these pics from Amazon because I thought it would be weird to show you my own dead skin, but that’s my own issue to work out with a therapist. However, these exfoliating mitts are the real deal. Everything I have read says they come to us from Korea, though they may be used in other countries and cultures. They are made from viscose, which is the most common type of rayon, which is made from cellulose fiber from wood pulp from eucalyptus, spruce, pine, cotton or as is likely here, bamboo. I didn’t even have to look that up, btw, I am a fabric enthusiast, I especially love bamboo and I think it is so funny when people hate on rayon but love on bamboo not realizing they are probably talking about the same thing! This somehow got bitter AND boring? ANYWAY, the mitts have changed my skin. I always had tons of ingrown hairs and strawberry legs, dry elbows, etc. Now I use these babies once a week and my whole body is as smooth as a baby’s ass, INCLUDING my ass. It honestly takes off so much dead skin I wouldn’t be shocked if I went down a pants size after the shower. It’s repulsive and amazing! Some people in the Amazon reviews complain that they are not durable and eventually rip. Well, that’s not surprising since I drag it all over my snaggy chicken skin and callouses! Also, I personally don’t expect anything that costs about five bucks to last forever. I’ll buy another one when mine rips. (I think our sponsor Kitsch sells a version if you want to find that code & get it even cheaper!) A few other reviewers also complain that they broke out in hives after using it. As a hive-haver, I sympathize, but I have not broken out in anything but glowy buttery skin every time I use it. YMMV! However, I have always followed the directions which say you must have your skin wet for 20 minutes prior to removing your dead, dull outer pelt.
Ok, those are the material things *I* have been wringing some drops of serotonin out of these days. What are some little things that are doing it for you?
I have a friend who has lights in their house set up with Alexa. I'm not there often enough to have the routine down, so I'm almost certain I am Lincoln in their house. It gives me anxiety to know I've possibly messed up their system, but I also don't need Alexa knowing when I'm using the bathroom. It's just none of her business.
I'm finding joy in finally being able to see Pink perform live, even if it's 8 months away, lol! Also, beginning to take small steps with some years old maintenance issues in my home. The list is long, but one thing at a time!
Oooooooo the light fixture!! I love when we get little snippets of your house! I recently remembered I have one of those brushes for dry brushing or whatever and damn it makes your skin smoooooooth and I think it feels good too. Thank you as always for this little community!
