Thank you, Caissie, that was such a delight to read with my afternoon cuppa! (T2 New York Breakfast is my recommendation). Hilarious too!

Thanks also for teaching this 40-year-old all the names for bamboo. I always thought viscose in particular was purely synthetic and avoided it. My favourite ever black l/s top to wear with jeans - before I plain wore a hole in it - was a high-percentage modal and as buttery soft as you described. I still long for a replacement all these years later... Always love your recommendations and those of fellow subscribers in the comments. I love the look of the spaghetti-strap nighty. I'm going to hunt for a similar one available here in Australia x

Caissie, I love how kind and considerate you always are toward your husband and his grueling work schej. I’m sure he’s the mensch you deserve, and it’s nice to hear a spouse give her partner credit as a matter of course. 😍

That's so nice of you to say! That guy works really hard at his job & he works really hard to show us all how much he loves us & cares for us when he is home. We are so lucky to have someone who gives us his all.

The navy spaghetti strap nightgown 😍 I've never actually worn a slip dress before, but that's absolutely giving me the urge to try!

My little dose of happiness this week came in the form of booking the next 3 Mondays off work, and my plans for all those long weekends involve nothing but catching up on the hobbies I haven't been making time for, like an embroidery project that's been sitting at about 25% completion for a year, and finishing at least one of the 3 books I'm in the middle of reading. Sometimes you've just gotta force some fun time on yourself!

I legitimately would love that full length long sleeve bamboo nightgown in deep blue. It's like an Ice King pajama gown. I could relax at home at night in something like that.

Just recently, Nicole (my wife) was stating her newest plans to organize our bedroom after also deciding out loud to make a career change. None of these plans ever come to fruition and that's ok. But it was at that moment that she said, "I should probably learn to stop saying these things out loud since I change my mind or forget a lot."

I agreed and said that my secret is to seldom make any declarations of what I intend to do. Nobody will ever know what I did not do if I never said I'd do it. Sage wisdom for the ages in this post!

HAHA! I like your approach and your wife's. I believe in her if she does really want to change careers. I also believe in you if you want to get that nightgown. You would love it!

The other day, I looked at my eyebrows, which once had been taken care of lovingly by a professional and well, it was not great. So did I just buy that cheapo trimmer thing? Reader, she bought it.

Let me know how you like it! I use the smaller precision (nose hair trimmer?) tip to carefully go in & trim off the eyebrow stubble that is growing above/below/between my mapped out eyebrow shape. It takes two minutes!

Okay, my hot take so far is: what an awesome tiny tool! I've only used it once. All the advice I've heard is that wax is better because it pulls the stuff out at the root. But this works just as good, even though I'm sure I'll need to do touch ups frequently. That's okay. I feel lighter already.

Caissie , love your writing! Makes me happy! So, I hate summer!!! We had a longer, gorgeous spring this year in NC and I guess we’re paying for it now. The glorious spring was almost worth this freaking heat. I’m over it. Fall is my favorite!!! I haven’t worn nightgowns since my kids were little - at the time it was just easier if something happened to throw on a pair of shorts if I already had a T-shirt on. But those nightgowns are cute so I may have to rethink!! Thanks so much for all the recommendations. Looking forward to listening to the podcast this week!

Things making my life better: June bugs. Eating leftovers while standing by the sink. Pretending, for just a few days at a time, that money isn’t real. Asking anyone who presses me for anything if they are the police without further explanation. Hot yoga that is so hot that wondering if my skin is melting keeps me in the luxurious present instead of in the future.

Fellow sad bagger here. My favorite sad bag is a pink Clare v Moyen bag I sprung for during a sample sale. I’ve gotten so much use out of it! I love switching out straps too & the colors of yours is so cute!

Yet again, Caissie - you speak my soul. This right here? You will never feel smarter or more put together than when you think something, think again, then say nothing. Honestly, it rivals the electric, jaunty feeling you get from having a fresh blowout.

Perfection. Thank you.

I love all of this, and after these recs i really WANT to be a nightgown person but i can't do it. Just the thought of my sticky sweaty legs rubbing up on each other all night is to much for me. 😬🤣😂

I also totally feel you on the improving my life while also not improving my life vibe it's fun! 😬🤡

But, and i think i mentioned this a couple weeks ago, i am really enjoying my library card right now. 😂🤣 its working out well for me, except that all the books i requested holds on have come available at the same time and I'm trying very hard to not let that be the thing that mates me throw in the library card towel. At least I'm still 112th on the list for the newest Barbara Kingsolver book (which i think a bestie's recommendation pushed me to hold)! 🤷🏼‍♀️🤣

Any tips/ tricks on how to be happy with nobody else knowing all the things i DIDN'T say? I want the cookie, dammit! 🍪

My library has a way of putting books on reserve and then putting them on a freeze. Then you still move up the availability list but you can decide when to unfreeze them. Just a hot tip from someone with 97 books on their reserve list. I have an addiction. 😁

🤣😂 the weird part is that they were like "no holds on this book" but then had more holds than copies of the book? So i figured I'd hold it and i could at least read some other stuff before my number comes up. So far I've read 5 other books since i put that one on hold. 😂🤣 my husband and i are happy to have the library problem rather than the "buying books and never reading them" problem that we've had for a decade+. Just hoping it becomes a habit & not a novelty that fizzles in a few months. 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 either way, I'm happy to support an institution that this state continues to shit on. 👍🏻🖕🏻

Caissie, you literally kept me company through a cheese plate and glass of wine. Thanks, friend! These are exactly the kind of things my cheap yet discerning ass needs. Here are a few inexpensive treats I've been enjoying lately!

These 'candles' look so much nicer on my mantle than their price demands. I use the little remote to set the timer, and they come on with a soft flickering glow every night, and go off on their own. I've given them as gifts to several people and we've all marveled at how good they are.

This is my absolute favorite clear eyebrow gel. My brows are sort of see-through, so I put on Benefit Gimme Brow for color, then shellac them into the correct shape using this. It also helps even out any clumps from the aggressively mediocre Benefit brush.

Cheapie yet cute minimalist earrings. I have these in 'white gold' (aka silver) heart and gold star:

I have the medium satchel version of the racing stripe purse and I love it! I usually only shop at the outlet but got a few gift cards and bought it in the store in the mall! It is a great bag and I hate to admit it, but the quality is much better than the bags I’ve gotten at the outlet.
