The 4th of July is weird even in a “good” year. It’s got a problematic history, and even if it didn’t, there’s a lot of anxiety that comes with a too-vague holiday where the entire thing hinges on either throwing a party and hoping people come, or trying to get yourself invited to one. It is truly the New Year’s Eve of summer. This year, the 4th is a full farce, as most of us are certainly not enjoying any of the Independence to which we’ve become accustomed & deserve. So fuck hot dogs & hamburgers at a backyard BBQ when we can have a virtual nacho party right here!
You already know a LOT about both of us & we’ve been dying to know more about all of you. If you please, and if you want to, tell us who you are, where you live, what you do, what you love to do and…if we were ordering nachos to share, what topping would you most want & what topping would you least want?
Hello!! I currently live in NYC and I’m a Labor and Delivery Nurse! I grew up in Wisconsin though so I’m a Midwest girl at heart. I love reading, seeing Broadway shows, going to concerts, and summer days at the beach. My favorite nacho topping is black beans and I do not care for olives or jalapeños :)
Hey y’all! I’m Sarah (31, LA but raised in Arkansas and Texas). I am a medical student studying Acupuncture and a Ashkenazi Jewish tarot reader (follow my substack to learn tarot 💙). Your podcast has brought me closer to my mother in many ways and helped me feel supported during isolating times. I’ve been a fan of Busy’s since my Hebrew school friend showed me freaks n geeks dvds while we snuck absolut into chocolate milk at her parents Hannukah party in 2007. I also once showed my entire class the uncut version of White Chicks. So to say she’s a staple in my house is an understatement. Caissie- I am SO GLAD I got to learn your work thru Busy Tonight! I often find a lot of peace in your words. Love y’all 💚💙💚
